Who we are
This website is run by 1st Scaffolding (Berkshire) Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 07690108). Our address is Knabs Lodge, Mill Lane, Tidmarsh, Reading, Berkshire RG8 8EB.
We decide how the personal information you give us is used, which makes us its “controller” under data protection law. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean 1st Scaffolding (Berkshire) Ltd.
If you have a question about this policy or about your information, email info@1scaf.co.uk or call 0800 2086 905 or 07831 197615.
What we collect
When you send an enquiry through this website
Our quote form, quick-quote assistant and contact page all collect the details you enter: your name and your phone number or email address, and any company name, preferred way to contact you, site postcode, timing, hire length and project details you choose to give us. The form also records which page you sent it from.
When you phone, email or message us
We keep your contact details and what you tell us about your project.
When you visit the website
Like most websites, our web host’s servers keep standard logs of visits, which include technical details such as your IP address, your browser and the pages you requested. They are used to keep the website secure and running. We also use Google Analytics to measure how the website is used, which is described below. We do not use advertising or remarketing tools on this website.
How we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and give you a quote, including arranging a site survey where one is needed.
- To carry out, manage and invoice any work you ask us to do.
- To keep records of our work and meet our legal obligations, such as for accounts and tax.
We do not sell your information, and we do not pass it to anyone else for their own marketing.
Our lawful basis
Data protection law requires us to have a lawful basis for using your information. We rely on:
- Contract: taking the steps you ask for before we agree to do work, such as a survey and quote, and then carrying out that work.
- Legitimate interests: replying to enquiries and running our business, where you contact us for another reason.
- Legal obligation: keeping the records the law requires, such as for tax.
Who we share it with
We only share your information with the people who help us provide our service:
- The companies that host this website and our email, which handle messages and website data on our behalf.
- Star Websites, who built and look after this website. They receive a copy of each enquiry sent through the website’s forms, as part of looking after the website.
- Google, who provide the analytics service described below, and process that data on our behalf.
- Anyone else only where the law requires it, or where you have asked us to.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use this website, so we can improve it. It tells us things like which pages are read, which links are followed, roughly where in the country visitors are, and whether they are on a phone or a computer. It does not tell us who you are, and we do not use it to identify individual visitors.
To do this, Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and sends the information it collects to Google, who process it for us under Google’s privacy policy. If you would rather not be counted, use the button below, or block cookies in your browser settings or install Google’s opt-out browser add-on. The website works exactly as it did before either way.
Google Maps and WhatsApp
Some of our pages include a Google map showing where we are based. The map is provided by Google, and when it loads, Google may collect information about your device and set its own cookies, as described in Google’s privacy policy.
If you message us through one of our WhatsApp buttons, your message is sent and stored by WhatsApp, which is run by Meta, under WhatsApp’s privacy policy.
Other websites we link to, such as our Google Business listing, are covered by their own privacy policies.
Cookies
This website does not set any cookies of its own, and we do not use advertising cookies. The cookies you may receive while using it come from Google: the analytics cookies described above, which last up to two years and tell us how the website is used, and any cookies set when an embedded Google map loads. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the rest of the website will still work.
How long we keep it
We keep your enquiry for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry and any work that follows. After that, we keep information only for as long as we need it for our business records, or to meet legal requirements such as tax and accounting rules, and then delete it.
Keeping it safe
This website uses an encrypted connection, and enquiries sent through its forms are emailed to us over an encrypted connection. They are not stored on the web server.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete
- ask us to delete your information
- ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to our using it
- ask for your information in a format you can take elsewhere, where this applies
To make a request, email info@1scaf.co.uk or call 0800 2086 905 or 07831 197615. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have used your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we change how the website works. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
