Inside the building
Access where space is tight
Internal scaffolding brings its own challenges. Lift shafts and stairwells are tall and narrow, materials have to come in through doors and corridors, and the building around the scaffold is often finished or occupied. We scaffold lift shafts for lift installation and maintenance, stairwells for decoration and repairs, and other internal spaces where a tower or ladder will not do. Each scaffold is planned around the space, erected by CISRS-qualified scaffolders and inspected throughout the hire.

How it works
From survey to strike
One team looks after your scaffold from the first site visit to the day it comes down.
Survey
We visit the site, measure up and check access, ground conditions and whether a highway licence is needed.
Design & paperwork
The scaffold is specified to TG20:21, or designed bespoke where the structure needs it, with method statements and risk assessments issued before work starts.
Written quote
You receive a clear quotation setting out the scaffold, the hire period and the programme.
Erect & hand over
Our CISRS-qualified team erects the scaffold, then inspects and tags it before anyone uses it.

Strike & clear
When the job is done, we dismantle the scaffold and clear the site on the agreed date.

FAQs
Lift shaft & internal scaffolding questions
Straight answers to the things people ask before booking scaffolding. Anything else, just call 0800 2086 905 or 07831 197615.
Ask a questionCan you scaffold a lift shaft?
Yes. Lift shaft scaffolding is one of our services. We build platforms at the levels the lift engineers need, planned around the size of the shaft and the work.
Does it need a bespoke design?
Many internal scaffolds can follow standard TG20:21 arrangements, while unusual or heavily loaded ones need a bespoke design. We will advise at the survey.
Can you work in an occupied building?
Yes. We plan how materials come in, keep routes clear for the people using the building, and set out the arrangements in the method statement.
What about large open spaces?
For large open areas such as atriums and halls, a birdcage scaffold gives a level platform across the whole space. See our birdcage scaffolding service for details.
Is the scaffold inspected during the hire?
Yes. Scaffolds must be inspected by a competent person before first use, after any alteration or event such as high winds, and at least every seven days. We carry out these checks through the hire and keep the records up to date.
