Scaffolding for Fulham’s terraced streets

Fulham is a place of long Victorian terraces, from the Peterborough Estate and Parsons Green to Sands End and the streets around Fulham Broadway, and many of its houses have been extended upwards and outwards over the years. Loft conversions and mansard roofs, rear extensions, re-roofs and front elevation repairs all need scaffolding, usually on narrow streets where the pavement, parking and neighbours all have to be planned around.

We scaffold homes across Fulham and commercial buildings on its high streets, and our London projects include netted scaffolds across several blocks of flats in Kings Cross. Fulham is a straight run from our yard along the M4, and we plan surveys and deliveries around your programme.

Ask a question

Do you work in Fulham?

Yes. We take on domestic and commercial work across Fulham, from Parsons Green and Sands End to Hurlingham and the streets around Fulham Broadway. It is a straight run along the M4 from our yard.

Do I need a licence for scaffolding in Fulham?

If any part of the scaffold is on the pavement or road, yes. Hammersmith & Fulham Council licenses scaffolding on borough roads, and Transport for London on red routes. On many Fulham terraces the front scaffold stands on the pavement, so it is worth planning for. We will confirm this at the survey.

Can you scaffold a mansard or loft conversion?

Yes. For a mansard or loft conversion we scaffold to roof level with platforms for the new walls and roof, adapt the scaffold as the storey goes up, and can add a temporary roof so the house stays dry while it is open. Our temporary roofs include one over an apartment block in High Wycombe during a roof extension.

How do you deal with parking and narrow streets?

We plan the scaffold’s footprint and the delivery at the survey: where the lorry can stop, whether a licence is needed, and how the pavement can stay open. Lattice beams or a protected walkway can keep pedestrians moving past the scaffold.

Will the scaffold need to go on my neighbour’s side?

Sometimes. On terraced houses the scaffold can need to cross in front of, or behind, a neighbour’s property. We will check at the survey if it does, so you can agree it with them before the scaffold goes up.
