A sheeted temporary roof over an apartment block in High Wycombe, keeping the building dry while a roof extension was built on top.
The project
This apartment block in High Wycombe was having a roof extension built on top. Opening up the roof of a lived-in building means the flats below have to stay dry, whatever the weather, for as long as the work takes. The answer was a temporary roof over the whole top of the building.
The temporary roof sits on a scaffold at roof level, with trussed beams spanning the building and sheeted roofing above. The sides are enclosed in protective sheeting, turning the top of the block into a covered workspace for the builders. The scaffold stays at roof level rather than running down the elevations, with a single access tower from the ground, so the flats and balconies below are left clear.
